The former Brazilian leader has been taken into custody after authorities found he posed a concrete flight risk while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was convicted of plotting a government overthrow in September and given more than over two decades in prison, but he remained under house arrest pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the move to detain the 70-year-old politician was a preventative measure after "new facts" came to light.

This encompassed attempting to break his tracking device and a invitation to a demonstration that could facilitate a chance to flee".

Court Filing Details Flight Fears

In a paperwork permitting the custody, the judge said data from the centre monitoring the former president's confinement suggested the ex-president's "intention to break the tracking monitor to guarantee victory in his escape.

This, it said, would be assisted by the confusion caused by the demonstration called by his child.

His son, Flávio, who serves as a senator, called for a meeting of his followers near his father's house to take place on Saturday night.

Flávio Bolsonaro wrote on online platforms on the previous day: "Are you going to fight for your nation, or observe everything from your smartphone there on your sofa? I call on you to battle with us."

He said the vigil would be so backers could offer prayers for his well-being and for the restoration of democratic rule in our nation."

Embassy Asylum Concerns

Part of the judge's determination was the potential of the former president's "relocation to embassies near the home, considering that the inquiries revealed a history of planning to request asylum through a consular facility", a declaration said.

The judicial paperwork emphasizes that the US embassy in the capital, the capital city, is positioned around 8 miles from his dwelling.

Global Responses

His judicial problems have provoked anger from fellow right-wing populist US President Donald Trump, prompting him to enact a fifty percent tax on goods coming from Brazil.

He is being kept in a federal law enforcement building in the capital and will have a imprisonment assessment on the next day.

Recent Judicial Appeals

It was only on last Friday that the ex-leader's attorneys asked the High Court to allow him to complete his entire prison term under house arrest, with digital surveillance.

They also requested that he be allowed to depart his residence for medical care, saying he demanded ongoing care for respiratory ailments and other illnesses.

Details of Guilty Verdict

He was found guilty of heading a conspiracy aimed at keeping him in power after he failed to win the 2022 election to his ideological adversary, President Lula.

Top judicial officials said that he had knowledge of a scheme which encompassed plans to murder his opponent and his vice-presidential running mate, Geraldo Alckmin, and to imprison and murder the presiding judge - the Supreme Court justice who has been overseeing Bolsonaro's trial.

The plot was prevented because it couldn't obtain the endorsement of the military leaders. His successor was sworn in without issue on January 1st, 2023.

But a week later, on January 8th, many Bolsonaro supporters attacked and damaged government buildings in the national capital, Brazil's capital.

The security forces took action and around approximately 1,500 persons were taken into custody.

The magistrates found that the protesters had been provoked by the former president whose strategy, they said, was for the Brazilian military to step in, reestablish control and reinstate his authority.

At the period, his attorneys called the over 27-year sentence unreasonably severe".

He was also barred from running for public office until the year 2060 - eight years after the completion of his term.

The ex-leader called the trial a targeted investigation" and said it was intended to stop him competing in the next presidential race.
